Gorilla Habituation Experience refers to the process of gradually training wild gorillas to become comfortable in the presence of people. During this guided experience, visitors gain a deeper understanding of each gorilla, observe their unique behaviors, and even learn how individuals are identified and named.
This rare activity is found only in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home to fifteen habituated gorilla groups located across four trailheads: Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo, and Rushaga.
Gorilla habituation permits must be booked well in advance—typically six months before your visit—because only four visitors per day are allowed, spending up to four hours with the gorillas. The best time to participate is from December to March and July to October.
